Eco-Board Signage

Priority Architectural Graphics uses a new print technology on a unique fibreboard material that is 100% recycled and 100% recyclable. The combination of new print techniques and materials allows us to create a virtually 100% earth-friendly sign. Production of the sign board follows a green process that keeps landfill waste to an absolute minimum and reuse of post consumer material to a maximum. All Eco-Board Signage can be repulped after use and brought right back into the production chain. Eco-Board signage can be used for event signage, retail promotions, displays and many more applications.

PVC Reduction Program

In flat sheet form, Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) is formed in a variety of thicknesses and colors. PVC is often expanded to create voids in the material, providing additional thickness without additional weight and cost. PVC is also used to produce the adhesive backed films referred to simply as vinyl so commonly used in signage production. The availability and low cost of PVC both in flat sheet and vinyl form has resulted in the polymer's omnipresence throughout the signage industry. There are various claims and reports regarding negative impacts that PVC has on human health and the natural environment. Findings show adverse effects occur in both the manufacture and waste of PVC.

Priority Architectural Graphics is committed to a 50% reduction of non biodegradable or non recyclable PVC use in the next five years by providing guidance towards alternatives to PVC based materials. Alternatives are available for most substrates; it is the effort of seeking out the alternatives that is the challenge for most of our clients. The breadth of available eco signage substrates is growing almost daily. Priority Architectural Graphics keeps in close contact with its vendors to ensure that we are made aware when eco substrates are available for the market. The evolution of materials has already brought us some excellent options. The table attached shows some of the available options currently on the market and what traditional substrates they can be a substitute for.

Signage Reclaiming Program

An effective way for reduction of waste is the reclaiming of existing substrates or else the repurposing of another object item for new signage projects. Reclaimed or repurposed signage projects take very high levels of coordination with the client. Clients that agree to produce their signage program or part of their signage program using reclaiming or repurposing will be brought to Urban Ore (Berkeley), SCRAP (San Francisco) or Builders Resource (San Francisco) to find products that can be repurposed into signage. Through close coordination with our artist, a series of designs will be proposed to reinvent the product as a sign. Recommendations for the most eco friendly products to incorporate the signs will be considered in design.
