Priority Architectural Graphics is pleased to have been selected as the signage contractor for the new emergency hospital being constructed by McCarthy Building Contractors for Kaiser Permanente in Roseville, CA. Kaiser’s Roseville Medical Center is part of a billion-dollar healthcare construction project which broke ground in late March 2023. The facility is expected to be finished in 2027. The full scope of work will result in the construction of a new 272,000-square-foot, six-story hospital tower which will contain 138 beds, including 20 in the ICU.
The initial stage of work consists of the “make ready” phase of the project which is critical for pre-construction. During this critical phase of the project, employees and patients are rerouted by signage changes that direct them to the hospital and away from future construction activity. Additionally, all exterior facility signage is cataloged and inventoried, and new signage is assigned by location. After this preliminary work is completed, the general contractor must then update this plan and review any necessary changes to the structure which might impact the plan based on the overall facility’s envelope.
The Priority team began this work in late February 2023 and wrapped up this work by year end 2023. Our team worked closely with the McCarthy team during the submission of engineering drawings, fabrication of new signage, installation of new signs, and repair and relocation of existing signs per their plan.
Our team at Priority faced very time-sensitive mobilization requirements associated with this project. In the beginning of any make ready project, it is paramount to quickly address all the valuable safety procedures, protocol and documentation requirements per our client and other stakeholders’ requests. This hospital remains a live, active medical center during this construction project so our team must ensure signage work flows smoothly concurrently with ongoing facility operations. HCAI (California Department of Health Care Access and Information) standards and protocols must also be strictly followed. Finally, due to shifting operational priorities, installation date changes over the course of any make-ready project are unavoidable. It was up to the PAG Team to remain flexible and accommodating around these to best support McCarthy Building Companies.
Despite these high client expectations during the make ready phase of the Kaiser Roseville project, the Priority team worked together to tackle each challenge, one at a time. And with extra effort from the full project team, including fabricators and installers, we were able to get site construction ready on time. We look forward to rejoining the construction team for vertical construction later this year.
