The Sam Farr United States Crop Improvement and Protection Research Center, located in Salinas, California, is a cutting-edge 117,000-square-foot facility dedicated to advancing agricultural science. Designed by HDR and constructed by Mortenson, this state-of-the-art center replaces the original post-World War II laboratory, providing expanded space for the Agricultural Research Service (ARS), USDA’s Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service, and the University of California at Davis. The facility encompasses East and West Wing laboratories and offices totaling over 70,000 square feet, along with a 38,000-square-foot headhouse and greenhouse.
Priority Architectural Graphics was honored to contribute to this landmark project by designing, fabricating, and installing custom commercial signage throughout the facility. Our scope included exterior and interior identity signage, such as monument sign lettering, as well as comprehensive wayfinding and code signage to ensure seamless navigation and compliance. The Priority team collaborated closely with Mortenson and the USDA. Cameron Mehls, Project Manager at M.A. Mortenson Company, recommends Priority as “a great partner,” highlighting their helpfulness, responsiveness, and commitment to safety and quality. This successful partnership underscores our expertise and dedication to enhancing public sector facilities through thoughtful signage solutions.
